Lies about Runescape Edit

  • Players can 'trim' armour as a gift to other players or for profit.
    • Trimmed armour does exist however players cannot trim it themselves and must obtain it from a treasure trail (Members only). This may be part of a scam.
  • If you smelt limestone on low hitpoints you will always succeed in smelting it
    • Attempting to put limestone in a furnace will make you lose HP.
  • Player can 'put gold plating' on armour as a gift to other players or for profit.
    • Gilded armour does exist however players cannot gild it themselves and must obtain it from a treasure trail (Members only). This may be part of a scam.
  • If you send your username and password to a certain address a system will take your account and make you a moderator.
    • Of course, you should never give your username and password to anyone.
  • If you get all 2000 people on one server to stand at Varrok's center fountain it will summon Vannaka at level 500 and he will shout a username and password. The first person to type this in gets to change it and will get to be level 500 with all skills at level 200 and be able to attack other players.
  • There are magic and maple trees for free players in the wilderness.
    • Magic trees are not available to free players. However, thanks to the addition of the Dungeoneering skill and Dungeoneering resource dungeons, free players with level 30 in Dungeoneering can teleport to an island containing several maple and willow trees. There are also yew trees on the island, but these require the player to have completed a medium Daemonheim task set, which requires membership.
  • Free players can fight the King Black Dragon if they wear full iron and a Rune two-handed sword to kill Greaters.
    • This is no longer relevant because the King Black Dragon has been made available to free players in February 2016.
  • If you get to level 100 on a free account, you will have enough "credits" to become a member for free.
  • There is a super rare black lobster that restores a lot of health when eaten.
    • The "super rare black lobster" is in fact a worthless burnt lobster. This used to be a common scam.

Truths about Runescape that used to be lies Edit

  • There is an in-game item that grants membership.
    • This used to be a scam. However, in 2013, the makers of the game introduced bonds that can be purchased for real money and traded in-game. They can be redeemed for 14 days of membership, among other things.
